Kids' perceptions - LOVE

Here's how kids see love in action:

  • Love is when my mummy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK. Danny, 7

  • Love is when Mummy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says that he is handsomer than Robert Redfort. Chris, 7

  • Love is when Mummy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken. Elaine, 5

  • Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk some more. Emily, 8

Praise Therapy

After suffering a brain aneurysm, I spent a month in hospital recovering, then a further month in a rehabilitation hospital to have daily therapy.

Each day involved attending and participating in three or four sessions. Always fatigued and often suffering from headaches, I lived for nights when I could go to bed and stay there.

Given that I was unable to find the therapy rooms on my own - or even tell the time - my therapy was an ongoing trial. I often wondered if I would ever competent enough to go home and lead a normal life.

One evening, a nurse called in to see me before she went off duty. "I just wanted to let you know how well you're doing. It was important to tell you that," she said.

Her encouraging words overwhelmed me. After her comment, I knew I was winning the battle. I'm sure she would never know how much impact her gesture had.

Fix It With Food:
Knee Pain

Millions of people have stiff, painful knees thanks to osteoarthritis. Remedies range from keeping active and dropping excess weight to steroid injections and even surgery. But research shows that you can take a tastier route to improvement:

SOY People with knee pain reported less discomfort and used fewer pain meds after eating soy protein daily for three months, according to Oklahoma State University research. Soy is rich in isoflavones, plant hormones with anti-inflammatory properties. Study participants consumed a powdered soy drink mix that contains 40 grams of protein, but, says study author Bahram H. Arjmandi, PhD, you can get the same benefit from sources like flavoured soy milk, edamame (baby soybeans), and soy burgers.

CITRUS In a study of 293 Australian adults, eating plenty of fruit reduced the risk of developing bone marrow lesions - a marker for worsening knee osteoarthritis and pain. The knee-friendliest fruits appear to be vitamin C-packed ones, like kiwi, orange, mango, grapefruit, and papaya. The researchers suspect it's the vitamin C in fruit that protects the knee joint and supporting structures.

FISH Many studies have found that fish and fish oil ease the joint pain and stiffness of rheumatoid arthritis. Now a study shows that the omega-3 fatty acids found in fish may block not only the chemicals that cause inflammation in osteoarthritis but also the proteins known to wear down knee cartilage. Eat two servings of oily fish (such as mackerel or salmon) weekly or take one gram of omega-3s in capsule form every day, says nutrition researcher Dr Artemis P. Simopoulos.

Update

Regarding my objectives of the year.
I need to cut my weight 1kg per month.
Yes, I did this well. I've cut 3.5kg for the first month.

On contrary, I overspent my money for both month.
Exceeded...... Haiz! I need to spend less for the following months, to substitute them.
